Hey Girlie

Nicole opened the car door and was about to leave her car until she saw Ricky calling her on her cell phone. She closed the car door and stayed in the car to answer her cell phone. “Hey Ricky!” She started singing, “Happy birthday to you…”

“Thanks,” Ricky laughed softly, “I was just calling to let you know that they want me to stay longer at work.”

“I was hoping we could celebrate your birthday sooner,” Nicole sighed, “but I understand.” Nicole felt her phone vibrate and got a message from her friend. Nicole said, “I’m picking up something from the store right now. I know you don’t like surprises but…” Nicole paused when she saw her friend’s text message that included pictures. She saw Ricky kissing one of her friends Kelsey in the photo. Her heart sank as she said, “You bastard…”

“Huh?” Ricky said, “What is it? I need to get back to work soon.”

“What is this, Ricky?!” Nicole screamed, “You lying bastard! You aren’t working. I see you with Kelsey! You’re kissing her!” Nicole said, “I can’t believe this bullshit!” Nicole said, “You said you were working overtime and each time you were actually with Kelsey!” Nicole screamed, “You’re with her right now!”

“What? You’re sounding crazy,” Ricky said.

“I got pictures from someone. I am not saying who sent it me, but I see you kissing the lips off of Kelsey!” Nicole said, “You lying bastard” Nicole hung up her cell phone. Nicole then sent the photos to Ricky and texted, “You bastard!” Nicole eyes filled with tears. He lied to me. He doesn’t love me. She wiped her eyes and breathed heavily. He was cheating on me for months now. The overtime bullshit was a lie. Nicole grabbed onto the steering wheel and squeezed onto the wheel tightly. She stared down at the steering wheel as her heart was racing faster. That bastard cheated on me after everything I gave to him and did for him.

“Ah!” Nicole screamed hysterically as she held onto the steering wheel. She shook back and forth as her eyes were closed. She screamed again “Ah!” Her body was shaking and getting hotter. Her eyes were dripping tears down her face. She felt her heart racing faster and she started whimpering. I loved that bastard and now I hate him. She violently wiped her eyes with her sleeve. I hate him. I will never forgive him. I hate everyone. She felt her heart beating heavily as she cried and covered her eyes. She gasped for air as she was suffocating on her tears and she was sweating. I loved him so much. He’s all I had. She continued to cry in her car and lost track of time.

She flinched when she heard people opening her rear car doors. She gasped and opened her eyes when she saw strangers entering her car. She jumped when she saw a man and a woman sit down in the back seats. He said, “Hey girlie.” He had a gun in his hand that he pointed at the side of Nicole’s body, “It’s going to be ok.” He widened his eyes and smiled a big smile.

The woman reached over and grabbed Nicole’s phone from the phone holder. She put the phone to Nicole’s face to unlock it and said, “I’ll take this now.” She put the phone in her pocket. She then put her hand to Nicole’s face and caressed her cheek gently. She said, “You have such a pretty face.” She gently caressed down her lips and revealed her teeth and said, “You’re going to make us a lot of money especially if you cry and scream just like that.”

Nicole’s insides clicked. I need help! They want me to scream and cry. What? This isn’t happening. They aren’t really threatening me with a gun. She stared at the woman.

She smirked and caressed Nicole’s hair in between her fingers. She stared at her and said, “You will scream and cry a lot for us.”

He laughed and went closer to Nicole, “Yes, she will. Now, what you’re going to do, girlie, is you’re going to drive exactly where we tell you. If you don’t listen, I will shoot you right in the neck.” He said, “Don’t worry though, it will be fun”

Nicole was shaking and said, “Where, where do you want me to drive?” She looked at the parking lot. I should do something, but then he will just shoot me. What do I do? She felt her heart racing. They want to hurt me. I’m so scared. If only I had someone. Ricky…. She paused and stared at the road. I have no one. She cried and she put the car setting into drive.

“Girlie,” He said, “Don’t cry yet. We haven’t even started yet.” He said, “Now drive and get on the highway.”

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when you said she was alone in her car, in the back of the parking lot, late at night,” She said.

Nicole was shaking. “Why are you doing this to me?” Nicole said, “I didn’t do anything wrong.”

She said, “Just because you did nothing wrong doesn’t mean shit.”

“You did do something wrong,” He said smirking, “Being such a cutie.”

Nicole cried more and drove onto the highway. This is it. I can’t get away. There is no escape. He will shoot me if I try anything. Nicole’s heart was racing faster.

“Nobody cares if you cry,” She said, “You can cry all day and nobody will give a shit about your pain. Honestly, people will enjoy it.”

Nicole stared at the side of the highway and saw a wall stretched out. She saw people in their cars driving beside her. Someone help me!

She laughed, “Oh, look here. Someone keeps calling her.” She said looking at the phone, “Ricky…” She said, “I left her phone on silent but he keeps calling.” She said looking at the phone, “He left a couple of voicemails.”

“Let’s listen to it,” He said, “Play it on speaker. I want her to listen to it.”

Nicole’s heart raced faster. “No, don’t play it!” Nicole said.

“Girlie,” He said, “Keep your eyes on the road. Play it.”

She smirked. The phone played Ricky’s voice, “Nicole. Come on. You’re worrying me. I love you. It was a mistake. I didn’t mean to kiss her. I know it looks bad. Please call me back.”

She laughed out loud and said, “He didn’t mean to kiss her. Did his mouth just accidentally fall on another woman’s face?” She laughed and said, “He is such a liar. What a pity.”

He chuckled and said, “He cheated on her. Oh, poor girlie. Is that why you were crying late and alone in your car?” He scoffed.

“Yeah, I bet that’s why she was crying. He cheated on her because she’s weak and he doesn’t take her seriously. Nobody does,” She said, “Let’s play another one.”

Nicole’s eyebrows arched and she squeezed the steering wheel. I am not weak.

In the next voicemail, Ricky said, “The photos. I can explain it. It was just an accident.”

She laughed and said, “What?” She looked at the photos on Nicole’s phone. “He’s denying that he was cheating on her when there are pictures of him kissing someone else,” She said, “Look at the photos.” She showed the phone to the guy and said, “The nerve of this guy.” She laughed.

“Oh, no. It’s ok, girlie. We will never lie like Ricky,” He said, “We are only honest with you.” He said, “Where we are going, we are going to hurt you, and we will hurt you a lot. We are going to have lots of fun with you.”

Tears fell down Nicole’s eyes. They’re right. Ricky is denying the pictures. I’m not stupid. You know what. People say never to go to the second location. She started driving very fast on the highway.

“Hey, hey!” He said.

“You know,” Nicole hit the pedal until she got to 100 mph and said, “You two shits have no idea just how angry I am.” Nicole laughed softly as she turned the car off the side of the highway road.

“Hey, hey, stop it!” He screamed, “I’ll shoot you. Stop driving like that!” He pointed the gun to her head and said, “Get back on the road now!”

“You came to the wrong car because now I’m going to blow both of your brains all over the road with me alongside it!” Nicole screamed, “Ricky cheated on me and you have no idea how much I hate him and I hate everyone!” Nicole floored the car towards the wall.

The guy screamed in fear and backed up into the back seat, “Ah!”

The woman cried “Stop!”

Nicole closed her eyes and smirked. I hate you, Ricky. She hit the wall with the car and the car crumbled with the wall breaking from the impact.

Loved reading this, I really enjoyed how the reading evoked a sort of film noir sort of mental imagery.
