“I told you to keep your damn mouth shut Kati. Now my boss thinks I’m married to a bloody simpleton,” Jack said, seething with anger. He paced—long lethal steps that spoke of anger and frustration far better than any words could describe. Slowly unbuttoning his dress shirt he walked to Kati. She watched corded muscles in his neck flex taut pushing the veins to the surface. Cold sweat prickled her skin sending shivers up her spine.
How she ever thought this man gentle and loving was a mystery to her. He wore an evil face only she knew existed. He could fool the devil himself with his good looks, intelligence, and charismatic ways. In the beginning, he was prince charming. Life was perfect until his parents died. Then Jack changed, like a brewing storm blowing out to sea.
Swallowing hard, Kati braced herself for his wrath. His dress shirt hung open displaying a broad chest and sculpted abs. He gently lifted her chin with his finger, raising her face to look him in the eye.
“Jack, I–I’m so sorry,” Kati said, her heart beat quickly making it impossible to catch her breath. “It wasn’t my intention to embarrass you. I swear, I didn’t mean to. He kept asking me questions and I was put on the spot!” Kati stammered. Jack glared down at her, his deep blue eyes held the truth of his anger. She could taste the sour energy that pulsed from his dominating frame. Terrified of what he’d do next, sent blind fear to surge with each passing moment.
Fear pounded at her chest, begging her to fix the problem or run like hell. Not knowing which to do, she lifted up on tiptoes and kissed him hard. She kissed him with a hunger she didn’t know she possessed, self-preservation taking over as she seduced his lips with hers. He crushed his mouth against hers kissing her with a carnal urgency. He wrapped his hands in her long thick hair holding her in place, this was one area in life she craved his dominance.
She nipped and sucked his bottom lip playfully. The taste of bourbon lingered on his lips, she moaned in pleasure savoring the rich taste on her tongue. He pressed his hardness against her lithe body, giving her a tease of what’s to come.
Excitement flared, urging Kati forward, she grabbed his manhood and slowly rubbed it over his pants, enticing a low growl from his throat.
Together, their bodies trembled, anticipation building with each caress, igniting bolts of pleasure. Jack knew how to play her body, making it his instrument, hitting all the right chords.
She kissed her way down his neck, scraping her teeth across his broad chest driving a guttural groan from his lips. Hands tangled in her soft hair, he guided her mouth where he wanted it. Smiling, she flicked her tongue over his hardened nipple, enjoying the feel of his muscles rippling under her touch.
She should hate this man but she couldn’t fight her love or attraction to him. He owned her heart whether she wanted him to or not.
Jack ruthlessly shoved her on the couch, angry lust overtook his fury. His gaze traced her soft curves. Licking his lips in admiration he unzipped his trousers dropping them to the floor.
Kati’s heart skipped a beat in awe, this man was beautiful. He stood over her in all his naked glory, muscles flexed as he waited to pounce.
Leaning over, Jack impatiently pushed her dress over her milky thighs. Tearing her silk panties in his haste to exposed her heat, wet and glistening.
Nostrils flared, he inhaled her arousal. With a deep groan he brought his mouth to her breast, taking her aching tip into his mouth, he nipped and sucked, stroking her with his tongue, driving her mad with desire. She pushed her pelvis into his hardness, rubbing up and down, the sensation setting off fiery explosions to her groin, both were panting in exquisite torture. Burning with lust, Jack buried himself deep within her.
She gave all of her self to Jack, loving the blissful sensations he gifted her body. She matched his rhythm with a pained desperation crying out for more, losing herself in the roller coaster of Jack’s lovemaking.
A roar of ecstasy exploded from Jack. Sweat glistened off his chest as shuddering aftershocks wracked his body. He collapsed on her trembling form, spent from the ferocity of their lovemaking. Kati lay beneath him breathless, reveling in the waves of pleasure that seized her body. Pressing his lips against her dampened forehead he kissed her softly.
Pushing up, Jack gazed down at her as she lay beneath him. Rumpled and ravished she smiled up at him. He soothingly traced his fingers along her jawline, following the slight curve of her delicate neck, trailing small circles over her throat. Sighing, she closed her eyes soaking in the delightful shivers. Jack seductively wrapped his hand around her neck and squeezed firmly.
Kati’s eyes flew open. Panicked, she instinctively grabbed his hand fighting uselessly to pull him free. His fingers tightened cutting off her air supply. Eyes bulging, she bucked beneath him, clawing his fingers. Jack leaned in watching her struggle, his face void of emotion.
“Do NOT ever embarrass me like that again Kati. I will not tolerate your stupidity a second time,” he stated, teeth clenched. Abruptly he released her neck and climbed off. Without a second thought, he strode to the bathroom.

Steam filled the bathroom, hot mist billowing towards the ceiling. Jack leaned over the granite vanity and glared at his reflection in the foggy mirror, disgusted with himself and the bastard he’d become. Cursing, he rubbed his weary eyes and climbed into the shower. Thoughts of self-hatred bombarded his mind.
What the hell is wrong with me? I was raised better than this. Father never laid a hand on mother, he worshipped the damn ground the woman walked on for Christ sakes.
Jack had tried everything to control his anger. He secretly sought out the help of a therapist to no avail. Nothing seemed to work.
Maybe I’m too screwed up to be fixed.
Cold water interrupted Jacks thoughts. Freezing, he turned off the shower. Grabbing a towel he quickly ran it over his hair, water still dripped down his back as he wrapped the towel around his waist and headed for bed.
Kati laid in bed sound asleep. Her tiny frame lost among the large king size bed. Jack quietly watched her sleep, following the rise and fall of her chest, mesmerized by the soft quiet rhythm of her breath.
Damn, she was beautiful. Kati looked like sleeping beauty. Unable to help himself he reached out and carefully brushed golden curls from her face.
Staggered, Jack paused. Her beautiful long neck was marred by purple bruises. An ill sensation clawed its way from the pit of his stomach, burning its way to the core of his heart, it was a sensation he wasn’t used to feeling. Guilt.
How could he harm her, she was the only person who truly loved him. She stood by him through the loss of his parents to the stress of work. Damn it, she even stayed with him through all the abuse he’s put her through.
It was at that moment Jack realized he couldn’t do this anymore, vowing to never hurt Kati again.
Dressed, he grabbed a duffel bag from the closet and tossed in handfuls of clothing. Once packed, he sought out pen and paper. Thoughtfully he wrote…
My love,
I’m sorry for the pain and heartache I’ve caused. I don’t deserve you. You are a beautiful soul who lights the hearts of everyone around you. You deserve the moon and the stars, something I cannot give you right now.
I will never forgive myself for the pain I’ve caused you. I am ashamed of the man I have become. This isn’t who I am. I must leave before I ruin your life forever.
I promise Kati, I’m going to get the help that I need. I want to be man you fell in love with.
I hope, one day, you will forgive me.
Jack.
Eyes locked on Kati, he placed the letter on her nightstand with trembling fingers.
Images flooded his mind. Images so clear, it was as though he watched family movies from the projector reels from his childhood. Flashes of her laughter, of him, playfully slapping her ass, conversations had while sipping wine at the fire, the sexy way she looked each morning, hair tousled from sleep.
Heartache cruelly tore his heart, threatening to rip it from his chest as memories assaulted his senses. Kati slept peacefully, unaware, of him etching her beauty deep into his mind.
Saddened, he gathered himself, burying his emotions deep within his soul. Jack swallowed hard, swinging the duffle bag over his shoulder he strode from the room without a second glance.
