His Redemption.

This story is by Annah and was part of our 2018 Summer Writing Contest. You can find all the writing contest stories here.

“ Angel to some, devil to others!” that cheshire cat smile appeared.

The three of them were in the musty investigation room. Lights were pointed at that monster. His slanted smile never fading once. Was it insanity or motivation?

“Judas his name? He keeps to it well. The two-face demon.” She trembled while kissing the cross chained around her neck. His number was called out.

Nabbing was child’s play. In a nursery with surveillance cameras. He was not even trying to hide it. Like he wanted to be caught.

“ Is it you pretty nurse? Honey, tell them. Tell them what I did”. His laughter made the nurse heave. Told them she did.

She was left still strapped and confused . It was impossible to help. She,like him, was impotent.

“Caleb. He’s not crazy, can’t you see?”

“ Austin, let it go. We got him confess, isn’t that our job?” Caleb enunciated the last word harder.

“ Our job is to find the root cause. This man isn’t stupid.” He reasoned.

“ Dude, just let it go. Look at him. Those eyes, that smirk, they belong to either a mad man or the devil himself. Our job is done.” Caleb pointed out to the man behind the mirror. Bowed head, hands clasped tightly, but smile so evident.

Defeated, Austin trudged behind Caleb back into the dimly litted room. He just could not wrap his head around the findings. Yes, they got Judas to confess. He did it so willingly, there was barely anything left.
