Blue Blood NYPD
Never in a million years did I think this could happen to me. This reminds me of the Twilight Saga when Bella realized Edward was a vampire. It’s funny now that I think about it. I’m Bella and my father is Edward. Yes, you heard right, my dad is a vampire. It all started during our daddy/daughter dinner night. A mugging occurred across the street. My father, Shane Tanner, was never off duty as a NYPD officer.
“Jeanette, wait here ok, I’ll be right back,” said her father. He rushed across the street and cornered the mugger in an alley.
“Freeze, put your hands where I can see them, and get on the ground,” said Shane. The mugger, a vampire in disguise, turned around with his eyes blood red and bared his fangs. He attacked him sinking his fangs into his neck.
Shane hissed in pain and twisted out of the vampire’s hold, pulling his gun from his holster, however, the vampire vanished leaving a vapor trail. Upon returning to the restaurant, Jeanette noticed blood seeping through her father’s clothes.
“Dad, you’re bleeding, we should go to the hospital.”
“I’m fine, Nettycake. It’s just a scratch. C’mon let’s go home.”
As time passed, Jeanette started seeing changes in her father to the point it scared her.
Normally he always sees me off to school every morning. Why is he barricading himself in his room with the lights off? I mean does he get up and eat? It’s been a week and the fridge hasn’t been raided! I wonder does he even go to the bathroom, not that I need to know his bodily functions, just so weird and I don’t like it.
Jeanette wanted to take matters into her own hands to figure out what was going on with her dad. And since he’s leaving for his shift tonight, she decided to sneak out and follow him.
He looks normal.
Why does he look like he’s in pain?
Shane continued his patrol when he smelled blood in the air. He followed the scent to a woman walking her dog to the dog pen.
Just like a dangerous predator, he stalked his prey to a secluded part of the park where in a blink of an eye he partook in feasting on her blood. The moment Jeanette approached the dog pen, her face paled white and a scream was caught in her throat.
Oh my God! What the fuck! Am I really seeing this? Okay, I must be trippin’ or I need glasses because this isn’t my dad.
“Daddy?”
Sensing her presence, Shane came alert with a hiss and froze when he saw Jeanette’s face. “Jeanette, what are you doing out on a school night?” he asked nervously. He tried to approach her to explain but she was afraid and quickly took two steps back.
“What happened to you?”
He wiped the blood from his mouth. “Remember our Daddy/Daughter night? Remember I chased the mugger?”
“Yes,” Jeanette intently listened.
“That mugger was a vampire. He bit me and escaped.” Jeanette’s head spun and it pegged the question?
“Where is the vampire now, is there a way to catch him?” He looked at her. “You need to stay focus on school and live your life as normal as possible.”
Defiant as ever, Jeanette approached her daddy wrapped her arms around his waist, “I don’t want to live my life without you daddy. You’re all I got.”
Shane stared in her eyes. “You accept me as a vampire?” he asked looking surprised.
“Dad. I don’t care if you’re a vampire, you’re still my father and I love you.”
Shane and Jeanette stayed in a loving embrace in silence for a brief minute until a thought occurred.
“What are we going to do?”
Millions of thoughts ran through Shane’s mind but he knew that Jeanette’s safety was all that mattered to him.
“We’ll continue on with our lives. I’m still the same cool dad except for the elongated fangs and frost blue eyes,” Shane replied with a wink.
“It’s you and me against the world, right?” she asked smiling back.
“That’s right, Nettycake.”
As they walked out of the park Jeanette’s mind wondered. “Hey dad, how are you going to explain this to the precinct?” she asked.
“Like I said earlier, we continue with our regular routine it doesn’t change anything,” he responded.
“Won’t they see the change in you?” she asked.
“Don’t worry so much, I can be careful,” he said, reassuring her. Jeanette possessive nerves settled when she realized that her father is right.
“One day at a time, right?” she said.
“That’s my girl,” he said very proud.
Arriving to the station Jeanette sat at his desk watching him work, her heart swelled with pride for her father as he kept himself in control. She knew she shouldn’t worry herself about him; after all he is NYPD finest officer. But to Jeanette, he is the world’s finest dad.
Four years later.
Jeanette has graduated from college and Shane’s been promoted to captain of his precinct. As a celebration, they had their Daddy/Daughter dinner. They were sitting out on the patio area looking at the moon when Shane asked Jeanette about becoming a vampire.
“I know I said you should live your life as normal, but I wanted to know if you thought about becoming a vampire?” he asked
“I have thought about it for a while, but I knew you would object to it if I asked,” she replied looking stunned.
“Well Nettycake, the choice is yours. You’ve graduated from college, and you’re old enough to make your own decisions,” he said.
There was a brief silence until Jeanette answered. “Yes, I want to be vampire.”
In that moment time had slowed and everything went black. When Jeanette awakened, her senses heightened to a level she never imagined and a better understanding about her father, now she can view the world in a whole new light.
