“That’s all I have for now. One last question. When you lived in Italy, you died in 1937. Due to those war injuries. If you don’t mind me asking, what year were you born?”
I’d moved to the edge of my seat. Now it was my time to smile at this person who’d held my attention. Then, almost immediately, I remembered someone slapping my bottom. Hurt and angry, I screamed, taking my first breath. This time, late February, 1939, I’d been born a female.
